Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. She was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and went to the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma knew that she was going to become an actor and, for a period of years, she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre academy where she was taught singing, dancing and acting. When she was ten, she had performed and taken the lead in a variety of Stagecoach productions as well as school productions. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by her Oxford theater instructor and introduced casting agents to Emma. After eight continuous auditions David Heyman informed Emma and Rupert Grint that they were chosen to play Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. It was the most-grossing movie of 2001, smashing records in terms of opening day sales and opening weekend take-offs. The performances of the film and of its three young stars were highly praised by reviewers. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely distributed, called Emma's performance "admirable." Emma received five awards for her role in the film, among them the Young Artist Award, for Leading Young Actress In an Feature Film. Emma was among the most well-known actors following the movie's success. For nearly ten more years, she was the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma was awarded two Critics' Choice Award nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
